Man shot on Pratt and Ashland in broad daylight pronouced dead by medical examiner

(Rogers Park) - It's now official. What I've been reporting all day has ended in what can only be described as total shame for our Rogers Park community

James Brown, who lives in the 3200 block of North Central Park Avenue, was pronounced dead at 2:40 p.m. at St. Francis Hospital, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office, after being gunned down at 6822 North Ashland Avenue.

Yet, all the internet community on Everyblock Rogers Park can do is bitch to each other under anonymous names, as to why James Brown was where he was at, when he got shot by people in a moving silver 4 door Grand Prix - with Indiana plates on it.

I don't know which is sadder? James Brown got murdered today in broad daylight - or all the community cared about was property values decreasing.

It's only a matter of time before I'm reporting on some sort of street shrine being placed at the site of the murder. Then, the anonymous internet neighbors will have something else to bitch about.

Come on, Jeff. This is getting totally irritating.

How many friends do you have that visit you - that don't live in Rogers Park? What if James was visiting his mother? His sister? Or Aunt? A cousin? Maybe even his girlfriend, who was on scene with-in 5 minutes.

Or just a friend named Jeff?

Doesn't James Brown have the right to walk down any street in Chicago without getting gunned down in broad daylight.

What the fuck? Are you, like all the others on your little chat site, now going to blame the victim?

Only because I actually know you, am I even tolerating such a statement here.

You're now blaming someone who was just murdered on our neighbor beat.

I'm ashamed to call you my neighbor.

Ok Craig, time will tell if the deceased was just in the wrong place at the wrong time or up to no good.
Obviously Its not up to me to determine that.

My grammar is what my grammar is. I've been doing it this way for 8 years now, and I'm not switching to the latest version of the AP stylebook format.

Thanks for the contribution, thou, Lish. I got a kick out of your little midnight conversation blog.

You should update it more often.

God, all of this happening in broad daylight! Watch out for the darkness of the night.

Speaking of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, what about the white guy who got jumped by 5 black males and then to add insult to injury, another set of two, a black female and black male all because he was sitting at the bus stop expecting to get to where he was going without the fear of ANIMALS attacking him unmercifully.

Where is the outrage in the white community beacuse I can guarantee you, if the opposite was true, it would be all over the newspaper.
